Foodie Friday: 3 Must-Eat Spots When You Travel for College Football (Athens, Champaign, Seattle)

If you’re chasing the biggest college football games, you’ve got to eat right along the way. In today’s Foodie Friday video, I share three can’t-miss restaurants for fans headed to Athens (Alabama–Georgia), Champaign (USC–Illinois), and Seattle (Ohio State–Washington)—with exactly what to order when you get there. Watch the full breakdown here: Foodie Friday: Best Game-Day Eats, and make sure you’re subscribed to the Unafraid Show on YouTube.

Athens, GA — Clocked (Burgers, Shakes & Southern Touches)

Address: 259 W Washington St, Athens, GA

Headed to Alabama vs. Georgia? Hit Clocked for a stacked burger menu, classic fries and onion rings, grilled cheese, and a nod to the South with pimento cheese. My move if I’m ordering for you: the “Hudson Carter’s Jumbo Deluxe”—cheddar, bacon, fried egg, and top-secret sauce. I treat the milkshake like dessert and grab it to go. Catch all my tips in the video: Foodie Friday: Athens pick.

Champaign, IL — Black Dog Smoke & Ale House (Elite BBQ & Sides)

Address: 320 N Chestnut St, Champaign, IL

Before or after USC vs. Illinois, Black Dog is the play. Start with the star: the twice-baked potato casserole—do not skip it. For meats, you can’t go wrong with pulled pork, free-range chicken, and brisket (nicely seasoned). If you’re bean-averse but love chili, the brisket chili hits the spot. It’s a full bar with a laid-back atmosphere—perfect for a pre-game bite or a victory meal. All the details are in the video: Foodie Friday: Champaign pick.

Seattle, WA — Pike Fish Bar (Seafood by the Wharf)

Address: 1415 1st Ave, Seattle, WA

If you’re making the trip for Ohio State vs. Washington, cruise down to the waterfront and stop at Pike Fish Bar. There’s an oyster bar, fried clams, and classic fish & chips. Grab the Pike’s famous pretzel and—if you’re like me—double up on the clam chowder (yes, I had two bowls). Not a seafood person? There’s a burger on the menu that gets the job done. Take a stroll afterward—shopping and people-watching are steps away. See the full Seattle rundown: Foodie Friday: Seattle pick.
